Iran GDP Growth, Highest in MidEast

 

International Monetary Fund has prognosticated that Iran's real GDP will reach 6 percent by the end of 2005. With 6% growth, Iran will enjoy the highest growth in real GDP in the Middle East in 2005. According to IMF, Iran is followed by Bahrain with 3.5 percent growth in the region. This is while Kuwait and Qatar at the top of last year's list are now placed 3rd and 12th respectively.

 

FAO: Iran among World's Top 20 in Agricultural Products

 

In its latest report, World Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), has put Iran at number 20 in the list of countries producing 65 agricultural products. Islamic Republic of Iran is also among the top 40 countries producing 85 dairy and agricultural products, number one in production of pistachios, and second in apricots, cherries and plums productions.

BBC: Iran First-Ever Private Power Plant Operational

Iran's first private power plant got operational jointly funded by Iranian and German firms, BBC reported. Isfahan-based Chehel Sotoon 954 MGW power plant consists of  6 units, the first of which with the capacity of 159 mega watts was linked to the national electricity supply network and the rest are to be completed by this year's end every 45 days sequentially. 80 percent of this project is funded by Iran's MAPNA and the rest by IEHAAG, a German Corporation. It was constructed under a BOT (build, operate and transfer) over the course of one year.

IranJapan Trade Volume US$ 9.8b

Iran and Japan trade volume stands at US$ 9800000000, noted Iranian Ambassador to Japan Mohsen Talaii. Iran's traditional exports to Japan amount to about 40 million dollar per annum and mainly consist of commodities such as carpets, pistachios and dried fruits, however, it is hoped that the figure would increase in the current year, he added. He also referred to Iran's abundant industrial and mineral potentials and said, based on the figured published by the Commerce Ministry, Japan is the third largest importer of Iran's industrial and mineral products, noting that, "There has been a logical growth in the volume of Iran's exports to Japan during the past year." The Ambassador said that petrochemicals constitute the main bulk of Iran's industrial and mineral products, exported to Japan over the course of past year. He further said that last year the commodities have seen an 8 percent surge jumping from previous US$ 380 million to 410. Iran's current oil export to Japan, stands at 637000 bpd.

 

 

IranSouth Korea Exchange US$4.5 b in 2004

 

Iranian Ambassador to Seoul said that the value of Iran-South Korea trade exchanges reached 4.5 billion dollars in 2004. He added that the bilateral trade exchanges registered a rise of 26 percent compared to 2003. He said that the value of Tehran-Seoul exchanges is expected to rise to 5.5 billion dollars in 2005.  He said that Iran exported 2.4 billion dollars worth of goods to South Korea in 2004 and imported 2.1 billion dollars worth of commodities from that country during the same period. Iran's exports to South Korea had been 278 million dollars worth of non-oil goods showing an upside of 106 percent compared to 2003.

 

 

Iran will Join WTO in Five Years

 

 

The Management and Planning Organization (MPO), in charge of preparing the proposal delineating Iran's joining WTO, has prepared a proposal that will be, within the next coming days, forwarded to the cabinet for final ratification, an official in the organization noted. He also expressed confidence that Iran's request to WTO for membership in the organization would not take more than five years.

 

 

Mehr Assalouyeh Petrochemical Project Fund Agreement Signed

 


"H. T. P." petrochemical project fund agreement was signed in
Tokyo between Iran and Japan. This agreement was signed in Japan International Cooperation Bank by Mr. Hushi, Chief Executive and Mr. Hadi Rahbar, Board member of Iran National Petrochemical Company. Mehr is a 220 billion US dollar joint investment project consisting of NPC with 40%, IPI with 60 percent.

 

 

Iran Tractor Exports to 30 Countries

 

 

The Chief Executive of Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company said this company's products are exported to 30 American, European, African and Asian countries. He further added that the company's capacity can increase up to 50000 tractors per annum. He referred to setting up of Tractor's Assembly line in Venezuela in least possible time (3 months) as a source of pride for his company.  Thanks to high quality and quantity levels of the products, Iran Tractor manufacturing sector has earned a proper standing among the world's manufacturers of this product.
