Iran New President in Office

Iran's new President, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was officially installed to the post in a special ceremony before the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and many other officials and dignitaries this week. In his acceptance speech, President Ahmadinejad stressed out the need for the world free from weapons of mass destruction and called on all to spread peace across the world. Mr. Ahmadijenad won the run-off election last July. His honesty and down-to-earth living style and campaign slogans resonated with the people landing him a sweeping victory.

Iran – Sino Tourism

Iran's ambassador to China termed tourist exchanges between the two countries as the most important means to connect Iranian and Chinese Civilizations and Peoples, adding expansion of cooperation in tourism between the two sides can prepare the grounds for promotion of economic and trade ties between Tehran and Beijing. Recent excavations in Iran proves the 6000-year-old civilization of this country, he stressed, classifying Iran number six in terms of tourist attractions in the world. Last year more than one and half million tourists from Europe, Asia and Muslim countries visited Iran. He further added that Iran welcomes Chinese investment in this sector and it has provided some facilities such as a 50-percent tax waiver for investment profit in Tourism, 70-percent loans  and ensuring foreign investment by the Iranian Government.

 

 

Iran Shipping Fleet No One In Middle East-South East Asia

 

Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line (IRISL) was named the leading shipping line in the Far East-Persian Gulf route. The Informal Rate Agreement (IRA), which defines freight rates for oceangoing container ships in the route connecting the Far East and the Middle East, stated that the IRISL’s oceangoing fleet carried TEU containers ten times as high as its last record to go up in the world table of shipping lines and stand at 24th place. Member lines of the IRA include APL, COSCO, Hyundai Merchant Marine, IRISL, MAERSK SEALAND, MOL, NYK, OOCL, PIL, P&O NL, SENATOR LINES, UNIGLORY, UASC, WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN, and WAN HAI LINES.

 

 

Chinese Officials Want Broader Tourism Ties with Iran

 

Three Chinese political, cultural and tourism officials at a conference titled "Iran-China Tourism Conference" asked for broader tourism ties with Iran. The one-day conference was held following China's approval of Iran's proposal to announce Iran as one of the tourism destinations for its nationals. The event was held in the presence of more than one hundred Chinese tourism officials and the two countries political and cultural personalities at Maulana Hall of Iran's Embassy in Beijing. Deputy Chinese Foreign Minister in West Asia and North Africa affairs Leo Ann June said at the tourism conference that the two countries enjoy friendly ties. He set historic example of it as the long lasting ties between the two countries through the famous Silk Road. He said that Iran and China are both developing countries and in need of broader comprehensive ties with one another, particularly in tourism field.

 

Iran Non-Oil Export Upside 17.5 %

 

Iran's non-oil export in first 3 months of Iranian calendar year (beginning on March 21) has reached one billion and seven hundred and fifty five million US dollars weighing 4 million and 545 thousand tons, showing a volume growth of 17.5 percent and weight growth of 25 percent.

 

Iran Judiciary Supportive of Foreign Investment

 

Iran's Judiciary Chief, Ayatollah Shahroodi, whose authority is accused of being too lenient with economic corruption and smuggling of goods into the country said, the Judiciary along with the Government and Parliament will vigorously support clean economic investments. He further added that the judicial and legal support for economic activities and ensuring a secure investment environment for both domestic and overseas investors are at the top of his agenda.

 

IranMalaysia 20K PC Exports


According to Head of the Expansion and Renovation of
Iran's Industries, a 20000-PC export contract has been inked between Iran and Malaysia. The design and production of these personal computers have been carried out in Iran with its first prototype entering the market. Around 2 thousand of them are to enter the market in a month and half time. The manufacturing company is located in the city of Shiraz. 

 

IranIndia Pharmaceutical Investment

 

Business Standard: India's IndSwift, a pharmaceutical firm, is to invest in Iran. IndSwift, of main pharmaceutical companies in India, is in negotiation with its Iranian counterpart to go into a 50 percent joint venture project. The initial investment is estimated to be around US$ 10 million. According to informed sources, this company's investment will increase as the project will further ahead. They are now finalizing their negotiations which will bring about technology and marketing cooperation between the two sides.
